And there are literally thousands of stunning beaches and tropical islands, beautiful rainforests, the incredible outback, quiet country towns and vibrant cities. Plus, there are plenty of well-paying jobs, where you can try something new and learn some new skills.
Whether you're taking a working holiday, gap year, or just going for a short holiday, you'll have the best time of your life backpacking around Austrslia!
TO MEET PEOPLE AND
MAKE LIFELONG FRIENDS
One of the best things about travelling is the people you'll meet and the lifelong friends you'll make. Whether it's the friendly Aussie locals or other backpackers, so many of the people you meet on your travels will help make your experience really special!
And the best ways to meet people to share your travelling experience are at your hostel, on a tour or by joining a group arrival package, such as our Oz Intro Working Holiday & Gap Year package.
FOR ALL THE
Australia is so massive and so incredibly diverse! What other country in the world has thousands of beaches and tropical islands, beautiful rainforests, awesome deserts and even snow-capped mountains?
This means that there's an almost unlimited amount of amazing experiences you can have. Check out our Travel in Oz page to see just some of the incredible things you can do when you go backpacking in Australia.
FOR PERSONAL GROWTH
There are so many benefits to travelling to a new country. And one of the most significant benefits you'll gain is personal growth. Being away from your usual network of support, you'll learn new life skills and become more independent. You'll grow and discover lots about yourself and will become more courageous and open to new experiences. You might also find new passions and interests that could help you in your choice of study or career.
So when you return home you'll be a more confident, independent and interesting person.
TO DO THINGS YOU'VE
NEVER DONE BEFORE
Have you ever wanted to jump out of a plane? Snorkel with turtles or dive with sharks? Work on an outback cattle station? Zip-line through the jungle? Sleep out under the stars? Cuddle a koala? Try surfing or snowboarding? Or take a long road trip with your buddies?
You can do all of that and a whole lot more on your backpacking trip in Australia!
BECAUSE LIFE IS
Have you ever dreamt about escaping from everyday life and being free? But you're stuck in a routine and feel like you'll never be able to go.
Well, the only thing really stopping you is saving enough money to go and then having the courage just to do it!
When you're old you will either look back on your life and have regrets that you never did it, or you'll look back and think about all the wonderful experiences you had and the amazing people you met.
Life really is short. And you'll only ever regret not going!
BECAUSE THERE ARE
QUOKKAS IN OZ!
Everybody knows that Australia has lots of sharks, crocodiles, snakes and spiders. But the truth is, they tend to keep to themselves. (More people die falling out of bed each year in Oz than from all of these combined!)
But the good thing is, we also have a ridiculous amount of extremely weird, incredibly cute and very cuddly animals. And none are cuter than the quokka. Found on Rottnest Island, just off the coast from Perth, these little legends just love getting in on a good selfie!
